Business start-up

We welcome customers who are planning to start a business. Your chances of success are improved by getting professional help before you start up.

We also advise businesses who have failed to adequately plan their business start-up to help get you back on track.

This page gives an overview of how we can help.  To find out more please contact us.

Advice on business structure

We can help you choose the most suitable structure for your business:
Some of the factors we consider are likely profitability, tax planning, VAT considerations, commercial risk, financing and use of company cars.

Help on starting/registering your business formally

We can help you decide whether it is in your best interests to register for VAT from commencement, at some future date, or not at all if your trade is outside the scope of VAT.  This decision will affect both the cash flow and profitability of your new business.

As soon as you have set a start date we can notify H M Revenue & Customs for Pay as You Earn (PAYE), National Insurance, and VAT where applicable.  It is important that you don't incur penalties for not registering.

If starting a limited company is the best option for you, leave your company formation and company secretarial issues to us.

Assistance with forecasts and business plans

We would be delighted to discuss and assess your business opportunity and business strategy.  We can assist with the consolidation of your ideas into a formal business plan (business objectives, experience, finance, forecasts for sales and profitability and budgets) and make sure that you are well prepared for the first meeting with your bank manager.

Advice on accounting records & payroll

We can help you find the best methods of bookkeeping.  If appropriate to your needs, we can install and set up SAGE software and train your staff.  We offer payroll systems and help with Pay As You Earn (PAYE) issues for employers and employees

Production of accounts

Let us produce your statutory accounts.  We'll produce and submit your accounts to H M Revenue & Customs.

VAT (Value Added Tax)

In addition to ensuring that you avoid penalties from H M Revenue & Customs for non-registration we can suggest the best tax saving positions.

If you do register for VAT we can submit your VAT returns and guide you on paying your dues on time to avoid interest and surcharges.
